Abstract
AbstractReaction of azide ion with the 2‐O‐trifluoromethanesulfonate derived from the D‐glycero‐D‐talo‐heptano‐1,5‐lactone (I) yields the D‐glycero‐D‐galacto lactone (IV), which isomerizes to the more stable D‐glycero‐D‐talo lactone (V).
