AbstractNitration of the polymethylphenyl ketones (I), (IV), (V), and (XIII) with fuming nitric acid in acetic anhydride shows regioselectivity in most cases, and predominantly forms the ortho‐nitromethyl derivatives (III), (VII), and (XIV).
