ChemInform Abstract: Reactivity and Catalytic Activity of (RuBr2(Me2SO)3).

Abstract

Abstract [RuBr 2 (Me 2 SO) 3 ] has been used as precursor for the synthesis of many ruthenium(II) complexes containing bromide ion and other ligands. The complexes, thus synthesised are: [RuBr 2 L 4 ] (L=PPh 3 , L 2 =phen or bpy); [RuBr 2 (Me 2 SO) 2 L 2 ] (L=py, AsPh 3 ; L 2 =phen, bpy or o -phenylenediamine); [RuBr 2 (CS)(PPh 3 ) 3 ]; [RuBr 2 (CS)(Me 2 SO) 2 ]; [RuBr 2 (CS)(AsPh 3 ) 2 (Me 2 SO)] and [RuBr(C 2 O 4 H)- (Me 2 SO) 2 ]. These compounds have been characterised with the help of analytical data and various physical methods. [RuBr 2 (Me 2 SO) 3 ] has been used as a catalyst for the oxidation of PPh 3 by molecular oxygen.
