AbstractThe cascade Michael addition—enolization—cyclization reaction of β,γ‐unsaturated α‐ketoesters (I) and (IV) with cyclohexanedione (II) is smoothly catalyzed by a novel bifunctional tertiary amine—thiourea organocatalyst to give highly functionalized hexahydrobenzopyranones (III) and (V), resp., in high enantioselectivity.
