Abstract

Coccinia grandis extact showed various bioactivities such as water and ethyl acetate extract of stem showed anti-inflammatory, antibacterial activities and lowered plasma glucose level. From the ethyl acetate extract of the stem of Coccinia grandis collected in Tiengiang province, Vietnam, six phytocompounds including 4-hydroxy benzaldehyde (1); 3,4’-O- dimethylcedrusin 9’-O-glucopyranoside (2); (+)-medioresinol (3); syringaldehyde (4); vanillic acid (5) and (+)-syringaresinol (6) were separated and characterised. Their chemical structures were determined by spectroscopic methods (1D NMR, 2D NMR and MS) and comparison with published data. All isolated compound are reported from the Coccinia grandis for the first time.
