Abstract

The essential oils obtained by hydrodistillation of the leaves and flowers of Aeollanthus pubescens Benth. were analyzed by GC and GC/MS. The leaf oil contained thymol (48.4%), thymol acetate (24.0%), p-cymene (5.3%) and γ-terpinene (3.7%) as the main components. Thymol (68.2%), thymol acetate (10.3%), carvacrol (4.0%), p-cymene (3.8%), piperitone (2.9%) and γ-terpinene (2.1%) were the major constituents of the flower oil.
