Abstract

Summary The chemical composition of Borislav ozocerite separated from ore by BR-70(A) and BR-1 (B) gasoline was compared. The application of elution chromatography on alumina and spectroscopic analysis enabled 82–91% n-paraffins, 3% aromatic acid esters and 15–16% polyfunctional compounds (resins) to be identified. The individual composition of n-paraffins forming a continuous homologous series ranging from C 14 H 30 to C 49 H 100 was identified by gas-liquid chromatography, the main maximum being on C 24 H 50 −C 33 H 68 and C 17 H 36 −C 18 H 38 . It was shown that extraction of ozocerite by lighter gasoline (BR-1) enables a product to be obtained with lower resin content and higher n-paraffin content.
