Abstract

Poly(vinyl pyrrolidone) (PVP) polymer films were prepared by the isothermal immersion technique. Transient currents (charging and discharging currents) in PVP thin films were measured in the temperature range 30–150 °C and field strengths of 2.3 × 10 6 − 23 × 10 6 V m −1. Activation energies were evaluated from quasi steady-state currents. The single relaxation peaks were observed from isochronal currents and low frequency dielectric relaxation. The activation energies were evaluated from both these methods and are almost similar. The polarization was attributed to dipolar mechanism.
