Abstract
The charge-transfer bands in the spectra of some phosphine and arsine complexes of rhenium, ruthenium, osmium, iridium, and platinum are described. The lowest-energy charge-transfer bands have been assigned and their energies rationalised by the concept of optical electronegativity.
