Abstract

We have measured charge state distributions of oxygen ions for four different energies around 1.0 MeV/u. The thicknesses of the carbon foils were chosen to see equilibrium and nonequilibrium distributions. The equilibrium distributions are in good agreement with many other old measurements, over all energies, by other authors. From the nonequilibrium distributions we have extracted the charge-changing cross sections.
