Abstract

Cross sections for the independent formation of 76As and 78As, the partially-cumulative formation of 77As and 77Ge, and the cumulative formation of 79As, 75Ge and 78Ge have been measured in the fission of 232Th by protons of energies 35–85 MeV. Charge dispersion curves have been constructed from these data and compared to those obtained in previous work with 232Th. The values of ( Z A – Z p ) for the products investigated are the same as those found for the complementary products, whereas the full-widths at half-maximum are narrower. These results also confirm the very strong dependence of charge distribution parameters on mass which has already been observed in the very light-mass region of fission products of 238U.
