Abstract
In order to determine characteristics of the critical current in HTS tapes it is necessary to take into consideration different external conditions like a magnetic field and temperature. Because of a strong influence of those quantities on the critical current in the HTS tape, the influence of magnetic flux density on the critical current in the tape has been examined. In the paper, a new approach to the examination of HTS tapes is described, namely examination of the tape properties in the presence of magnetic field generated by Halbach array of permanent magnets. Such a solution is considered as application of superconducting tapes in Personal Rapid Transit systems. The influence of permanent magnets on critical current in HTS tapes is very important aspect for investigation. Dedicated test bench for characterization of HTS tapes is presented. Permanent magnets arranged in a Halbach array enable the strengthen the magnetic flux density in the vicinity of HTS tape. The distance between magnets and the tape influences on the magnitude of the magnetic flux density in the tape. The magnetic flux density generated by permanent magnets have been analyzed by FEM and measured. The critical currents at different distance between tape and magnet were measured or the Super Power® HTS tape.
