Abstract

In this presentation, the method to characterize resin material properties using with dynamic pendulum testing machine, IMPETUS, and material characterization software, VALIMAT, is introduced. Recently the more resin material has been used for the parts of automotive, therefore the demands of accurate crash simulation for this material has been increased. In general, deformation behavior of resin material shows the dependence of hydrostatic pressure and strain rate, and failure behavior of the material shows the dependence of stress triaxiality. To simulate these plastic material behaviors, complex material model such as Semi-Analytical Model for Polymers (SAMP) and Generalized Incremental Stress State dependent damage Model (GISSMO) was proposed, and we need to identify parameters of these material model by conducting the tests in different cases of stress triaxiality and strain rate. Dynamic testing machine IMPETUS can be used for these material testing and the software VALIMAT can be used for identifying the material properties based on reverse engineering. This method is expected to contribute accurate and efficient material characterization for complex material model.
