Abstract

Some basic characteristics of the imaging plate neutron radiography (IP-NR) system were investigated at the E-2 facility of the KUR. The investigation was carried out varying neutron fluence between 5×105 and 7×108 n cm−2. The response function of the system and the fading effect of recorded image in the imaging plate were measured. The image level and the effective range width decreased to about 2/3 with good linearity after one day. Thermal neutron component (NC), visible holes (H), and gaps (G) with RISø-81 Image Quality Indicators were measured as 73.6%, 4 and 5 with neutron fluence of 6.1×107 n cm−2. This paper presents the characterization of the IP-NR system and its applications.
