Abstract

Thin films of (1−x)Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O3-xPbTiO3 (x=0.35) were epitaxially deposited on (001) LAO substrates by pulsed laser deposition. The formation of the perovskite phase in the films depends on the target composition. It was found that a Mg-rich target gives the perovskite phase in a wide temperature range, while a Pb-rich target leads to a narrowing of this temperature range and a shift toward higher temperature. Heterostructures of Au/PMN-PT/YBCO were prepared on LAO substrates in order to evaluate their electrical properties. The dielectric constants are relatively low, partly due to the Mg deficiency in the films. Ferroelectric hysteresis loops are observed in these films with a remanent polarization of about 11 μC/cm2.
