Abstract

Elastic properties of dielectric crystals have been investigated by the scanning acoustic microscope (SAM) and the scanning photo-acoustic microscope (SPAM). Domain walls of a felloelastic of NdP5O14 crystal have been clearly observed by SAM and SPAM.V(z) curves of several dielectric crystals have been measured by the use of the acoustic cylindrical lens in the non-scanning mode of SAM and the velocities of the leaky Rayleigh waves have been determined. The angular dependence of the leaky wave velocities have been determined in ferroelectric β-Gd2(MoO4)3 crystals.
