Abstract

The Al2O3 coating was synthesized on surface of the Nb fiber via cathodic plasma electrolytic deposition (CPED) method. The microstructure and composition of the coating were elaborately analyzed. The results revealed that compact and uniform Al2O3 is fully contact with TiAl matrix and Nb fiber, which was composed of κ-Al2O3 and α-Al2O3 and successfully hold back the oxidation reactions at the juncture and refrain from formation of detrimental phases. Especially, three-dimensional characterization information can be obtained from two-dimensional converging beam electron diffraction (CBED) pattern, from which the crystal constants of Al2O3 can be obtained directly under only one applicable zone axis.
