DNA cloning of the amplified exon 2 of the HLADPB1 gene and subsequent sequencing of several clones revealed the presence of a DPB1*0402 allele and a new allele that has been designated DPB1*010103 by WHO Nomenclature Committee for factors of the HLA system. † The new allele is identical to DPB1*010101 except for a single-nucleotide substitution at the position 283. The name listed for this sequence has been officially assigned by the WHO Nomenclature Committee. This follows the agreed policy that, subject to the conditions stated in the most recent Nomenclature Report ( 1), names will be assigned to new sequences as they are identified.
