Abstract

Abstract The open-ended Coaxial Line Resonator Microwave method is employed for the characterisation of rubber compounds of different concentration and activity of carbon black filler. The method is sensitive to both the concentration and activity of carbon black. There is evidence that it also detects small changes of dielectric parameters during vulcanisation. The method is also effective for the study and testing of the inhomogeneities of rubber compounds. As for its sensitivity and reliability in combination with simplicity, the method can be recommended for practical use in research and development, as well as in the production of rubber compounds and generally for filled polymers.
