Abstract

Accelerated charged particles were injected into a neutron generation target, and fast neutrons were generated in the irradiation field of accelerator-based boron neutron capture therapy. Fast neutrons were then moderated to epithermal neutrons by passing through the moderator and are used for therapy. The epithermal neutron beam was injected into a water phantom to evaluate its characteristics of the neutron beam. The neutron beam characteristics were also evaluated without a water phantom. The current value of the charged particles injected into the neutron-generating target and the value of the neutron monitor installed in the moderator were used to control the dose; therefore, these were also evaluated.
