Abstract
The natural gas industry needs to overcome negative public perceptions regarding its environmental and safety performance and overall sustainability in order to secure its contribution to the near-net-zero energy mix being planned for the future. It has the technologies and systems available to do this but must adopt and deploy those more extensively as a matter of urgency and take steps to improve its reputation in order not to be outperformed by low-carbon alternatives.
