Abstract

Fruits and vegetables are in high demand in the industry these days due to their nutritious benefits. Fresh produce possesses a limited shelf life due to its brief life cycle. Ants, germs, pre- and postharvesting conditions, as well as warehousing and distribution circumstances, all have an effect on or damage roughly a good percentage of the produce. Fresh produce storage is a serious issue all around the world. To address this issue, edible coating is a viable option. It offers edible protection for fruits and vegetables. It is advantageous to both humans and the environment. Medicinal edible films are being employed as a micronutrient that is good for the consumer’s wellbeing. Hydrogels, fats, and additives are all examples of edible films. They possess good oxygen molecules, carbon dioxide, dampness, and evaporation barrier characteristics.
