Abstract

This chapter introduces the concepts of resilience, resilience thinking, fragility and antifragility, and discusses their importance in systems analysis. Methods for assessing resilience qualitatively and quantitatively are presented. An application of resilience thinking to the synchronous failures in complex systems is discussed with examples.
