Abstract

Shale oil is unconventional oil, which is produced from oil shale pyrolysis, hydrogenation, or thermal dissolution [1]. Generally, the term oil shale is given to any type of sedimentary rock that contains solid bituminous materials (called kerogen) that are released from petroleum-like liquids when the rock is heated in the chemical process of pyrolysis [2].
