Abstract
Like many other prophetic books of the Hebrew Bible, the book of Isaiah contains a section of material devoted primarily to prophetic oracles concerning foreign nations, located in Isaiah 13-23. This book does not aim to identify every step in the development of all of the texts in Isa 13-23, although proposes a new approach to the general formation of the collection. In particular, the present goal is to give careful attention to the formation of Isa 18-20, which is a smaller group of material united by its thematic interest in the nations of Cush and Egypt, despite its literary diversity. Among those passages cited in T. K. Cheyne's list of later Isaianic insertions (14:24-27; 17:12-14; 18; 20), we may point out that only Isa 20 explicitly names Isaiah, and not one of these claims to be written by him.Keywords: Hebrew Bible; Isaiah 13-23; T.
