Abstract

This chapter presents several different definitions for the stochastic convergence of a sequence of random variables. Convergence in probability is compatible with the metric of Ky Fan. The convergence in probability is in general incompatible with the existence of a norm. The chapter discusses certain possibilities where certain convergence is incompatible with a metric and an exceptional case in which a metric is compatible with almost certain convergence.
