Abstract

Moving particle semi-implicit (MPS) method can easily deal with the free surface, large deformation, and complex boundaries in the flows related to ocean engineering. In this chapter the MPS applications in hydrodynamics and fluid–structure interaction (FSI) problems in ocean engineering are introduced. The simulations of wave impact on a ship deck, water flooding the damaged ship, and sediment transport in waves are discussed. In addition, some advanced fluid–structure coupling solvers in terms of FSI simulations with elastic structures are introduced.
