Abstract

High investment and costly operation require that deepwater wells produce at as high a rate as possible. Therefore, a variety of technologies have been used to remove the production barriers and push the production limits. On the other hand, any previous discussed formation damage mechanisms could happen in the deepwater environment. In this chapter, we present the difference that water depth makes, intelligent well surveillance and completion, frac-pack well completion, formation damage because of compaction, and other problems featuring in deepwater development. The objective of this chapter is to present the uniqueness of offshore development and production in the terms of formation damage and remediation.
