Abstract

In this chapter, the authors will focus on recent technologies that are making an impact in the manufacturing sector in SMEs using computational intelligence. Computational intelligence (CI), also called soft intelligence, plays a pivotal role in developing applications, and creating algorithms for forecast markets situation and growth. CI uses a combination of different analytical methods like fuzzy logic, neural networks, evolutionary computation, learning theory, and probability methods to increase the productivity and effectivity in the manufacturing sectors in SMEs. The five technologies aligned with CI focused on this chapter would be artificial intelligence, machine learning, Internet of things (IoT), Big Data analytics, and augmented reality (AR)—virtual reality (VR).
