Abstract

Vaccination in pregnancy can provide protection for pregnant women and their infants against a number of pathogens and there are national and international recommendations for influenza, pertussis and tetanus. There are some circumstances in which other vaccinations may be considered in pregnancy, for example in a particular location where there is a high incidence of a disease, in an outbreak, before foreign travel or if exposure is likely. Here we provide an overview of some vaccines in pregnancy which are offered in specific circumstances outside of national programs with a review of the available evidence for their use.
