Abstract

The concept of sustainable manufacturing has gained paramount importance in global marketplace for producing eco-friendly products with lesser environmental impacts. Sustainable manufacturing focuses on efficient use of resources leading to the development of sustainable green practices. This chapter accounts for sustainability performance evaluation using grey-based approach. The assessment model includes 3 enablers, 12 criteria, and 48 attributes. Inputs from the experts with practical domain knowledge are used for calculating the grey index. The input data are summed at three stages to estimate the overall grey performance index (OGPI). The manufacturing sustainability level is computed as (2.384, 15.876) using OGPI. Moreover, using grey performance importance index values, weaker areas are recognized for improvement, and the inferences are found to be practically achievable. The analysis evaluated manufacturing processes from triple bottom line sustainability viewpoint enabling practitioners to evaluate manufacturing processes from sustainability angle.
