Abstract
Compaction is required for the base layer of pavements, for embankment fills, for retaining walls’ backfills, and for fill around pipes. The field of compaction has seen a number of developments in the last 10 years including intelligent compaction, modulus based compaction control, and uneven roller compaction. These three developments are the basis of this chapter.
