Abstract

This chapter discusses the effect of nanopore confinement on phase behavior of shale reservoirs. A methodology for phase equilibrium calculation considering the capillary pressure effect is introduced. Furthermore, the effects of nanopore size distribution and nanopore confinement on well performance of shale oil reservoirs such as Middle Bakken and Eagle Ford are presented. Simple biwing hydraulic fractures and complex natural fractures are considered in the simulation study.
