Abstract
Various reports have used ionic liquids (ILs) in different fields, particularly their application in organic synthesis. ILs possess many special properties such as high thermal stability, low or negligible vapor pressure, low flammability, and easy design for particular purposes leading them to be hailed as green reaction media. The use of ILs has significant improvement in product yields and selectivity, mild condition, workup simplicity, and easy recovery and reuse without a significant decrease in catalytic activity. Consequently, ILs are an important tool and are widely used in organic synthesis.
