Abstract

Implantable biosensors provide real-time data and critical analytics for tracking disease diagnosis and progression. Precise monitoring and delivery of precision medicine with implanted biosensors will be challenging in humans due to many factors like the material of the biosensor, its size, and its cost-effectiveness. Understanding the physiology and biomarker profile of the animal with the implanted biosensors will aid in creating innovative and error-free implantable biosensors for human use. This chapter describes the importance of implantable biosensors in animal models such as Drosophila melanogaster, Caenorhabditis elegans, Danio rerio, and Mus musculus. It provides insight into disease diagnosis in various conditions like Alzheimer’s, cancer, and diabetes mellitus based on the associated biomarker profiles.
