Abstract
Oxidative stress is implicated in both types of diabetes. Both hyperglycemia and increased oxidative stress cause complications of diabetes. Higher than normal levels of oxidation products of lipids, proteins, and DNA in blood have been reported in patients with type 2 diabetes. In addition, high levels of lipid peroxidation products and isoprostane have been observed in the urine of patients with both type 1 and type 2 diabetes.
