Abstract

The human hearing system is very complex, as many other organs in the human body. But behind that complexity, viewed from the outside, there is a combination of several processes that, from the physical point of view, can be described with an acceptable level of approximations. For example, sound wave traveling through the air can be described by acoustic wave equation, and motion of the ossicles in the middle ear can be modeled by Newtonian dynamics. Basic equations for modeling of both mentioned processes, computational algorithms that can be used to couple different equations that represent processes in the human ear, and finite element models of the middle and inner ear with the aim of modeling complex processes that are happening in the human ear are shown in this chapter.
