Abstract

The clinical features of tumors are usually the primary factors in their diagnosis. These features can vary enormously between the tumor types and case to case in each tumor type. This chapter outlines the general principles of clinical features, and the symptoms and signs associated with the common tumor types. It covers the terminology used in describing the clinical (presenting and later) features of tumors, including those which a patient can describe and those which are discovered on examination and by tests. Specific features of tumor masses are described in relation to solid tumors and their metastases and cancers of the hematopoietic and lymphoid systems.
