Abstract
Abstract In 2022, the reports by UN bodies and the Framework Convention for the Protection of National Minorities and the European Charter for Regional or Minority Languages monitoring findings indicated that the social and economic rights of national minorities were not yet fully implemented. The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic was featured in several reports and strategy documents since experts were still tracing the disproportionate effects of the disease on minority communities. The invasion of Ukraine by Russia sparked high-level discussions about the intersection of ethnic conflict and inequality, while several initiatives at the EU level were developed to accommodate Ukrainian refugees.
