Abstract

Electroencephalography (EEG) monitoring and analysis of patients under anesthesia are still challenging today. It is well known that anesthetic agents could cause conscious changes by acting on the central system, so subconscious monitoring of anesthesia is of great significance. In light of recent technical advances, more and more methods are available for surface brain electrical activity monitoring. The purpose of this chapter is to introduce different methods to monitor the surface brain activity under anesthesia. Special emphasis will be given to common issues such as characteristics and scope of different monitoring methods. In addition, the differences of several methods will be listed.
