Abstract

This chapter, pays attention to microwave-assisted stereoselective construction of various value-added heterocyclic scaffolds, condensation, multicomponent, cyclization, and addition reactions. Microwave chemistry became the state of the art for the synthesis of new chemical entities in organic chemistry. Attractive reaction parameters, for instance, superior conversions, yield, selectivity, and specificity make the microwave irradiation a convenient and valuable technique for organic transformations offering numerous advantages to organic, industrial, polymer, medicinal, and pharmaceutical chemistry. Since chemistry is at the speed of life and microwave chemistry bestows chemists more time and aspects to explore their methodological ingenuity that makes them able to amplify the newfangled alleyway on the road to integrity, selectivity as well as reactivity. This chapter endows some basic background and process of microwave irradiation and its different aspects on chemical transformation with special emphasis on stereoselectivity that is maintained or sustained during the reaction.
