Abstract

Potential risk and hazardous effect of MPs (MPs) and nanopalstics (NPs), produced from plastic litters, are well acknowledged, and have become a global major issue. Nonproper disposal management of these non-degradable wastes with continuous escalated use in our daily life, causing problems directly for aquatic lives and indirectly ours. Considering the problems caused by MPs and NPs, extensive studies have been done on them in recent years by scientific communities. This chapter will critically analyze the sources of the MPs and NPs, and their migration, aggregation and deposition in the aquatic system. In addition, the harmful effects of these particles on aquatic ecosystem and effect of bioaccumulation of them in human body will also be discussed. Furthermore, this chapter will also summarize the complete overview of currently existing remediation techniques and future perspectives for these plastics particles.
