Abstract
The five topics presented in this chapter are about high-benefit projects. It is likely that at least two of these topics will apply to your organization. These five major topics are the benefits of access card convergence, security cameras for use in business operations, sharing security technology with business units, automated workforce management and wireless analog vulnerability. Information technology (IT) continues to advance the capabilities of electronic security systems—a side effect of technological advancement is a greater focus on technology and less focus on the people and process aspects of security. Tough economic conditions impact all businesses, both large and small. While not all companies are faced with workforce reduction, “doing more with less” is a nearly universal requirement in times of economic hardship. This chapter explores various ways this economizing is occurring and how it affects security operations.
