Abstract
There is a significant rise in symptomatic severe aortic stenosis population together with an expanding indication for transcatheter aortic valve implantation that has been more recognized recently. The advances in this technology involves improvement in the transcatheter heart valve itself to achieve better outcomes and fewer complications, improvement in the multimodality imaging techniques used for planning and monitoring of the procedure, and for follow up, and development of new approaches, delivery systems and percutaneous closure devices that broadened the spectrum of the patients deemed eligible for the procedure with fewer complications. We aim to highlight all these recent major advances in the development of this technology in this chapter.
