Abstract
This chapter reviews the analysis and prediction of protein structure and some aspects of potential function. The chapter discusses various types of helices, strands, coils, and other aspects of protein structure. Structure prediction output takes into account these aspects of protein structure. A number of online tools that predict secondary and tertiary structure are cited. Online tools for the analysis of disordered proteins are also discussed. The study of disordered proteins is a relatively new field. One more aspect of protein-sequence-based analysis is reviewed, which is the prediction of the allergenic potential of a protein. Some online tools for the analysis and prediction of protein allergenicity are also discussed.
