Abstract

There is an increasing awareness of the potential use of Roselle (Hibiscus sabdariffa) in health and medicine, beverages, and cosmetic products. Roselle calyces are rich in phytochemicals and popular for the application in beverages, natural colorants, and bioactive phytochemicals. Several volatile compounds were identified in Roselle extracts, of which aldehydes, ketones, alcohols, terpenes, and esters were found to be the major constituents.
