Abstract
The accumulation of organic waste, such as wasted food, municipal solid waste, food processing waste, agriculture residue, and forest waste, causes worldwide concerns due to limit landfill spaces and tightened rules on incineration. In recent years, various strategies have been explored for the reduction of organic waste materials and to recycle and reuse these materials for the production of value-added products. One of the emerging approaches is the conversion of organic waste into biofertilizer. This chapter reviews recent progress in the area regarding the conversion various organic waste streams into biofertilizers, including wasted food, municipal solid waste, food processing waste, and agriculture residue. Reports on the field tests of these biofertilizers are reviewed as well.
