Abstract

This chapter reviews the basics of the currency exchange market in general and the currency exchange market in East Asia in particular. It explains how the East Asian currency exchange market affects Americans doing business in East Asia, with particular attention paid to China’s currency exchange policy and its effects on China and the United States in terms of trade and employment. It concludes with an example of different outcomes of quantitative easing in the United States and China.
