Abstract
Technology has strong applicability and obvious economic purpose, and technology without application value and economic benefits has no vitality. Whether the biological hydrogen production technology can be popularized and applied is directly related to its economy. Technoeconomic analysis is an important method to study the relationship between technology and economy. Through literature search, it is found that most of the technoeconomic evaluation of engineering technology is carried out through Aspen Process Economic Analyzer (APEA). APEA is a useful software for technical and economic evaluation. Before using APEA for technical and economic analysis, you need to use Aspen Plus for production plant design, steady-state simulation, and optimization of large general process simulations. Then, the simulation results of Aspen Plus are transferred into APEA, and the process simulation unit is transformed into a more detailed process equipment model and related devices such as pipes, instruments, materials, etc., and the size of the equipment is estimated. The investment cost, operating cost, and total investment of the project are estimated too. This chapter briefly introduces the process of Aspen Plus's application in technical and economic evaluation and collects and reviews the literature on the application of Aspen Plus in biological hydrogen production, the technical barriers and economic factors were analyzed, and the research and utilization trend of biological hydrogen production technology was prospected.
