Abstract
This chapter discusses shield tunnelling and segment assembling technologies. First, the tunnelling technologies are presented for EPB and slurry shield tunnelling, including determination of tunnelling parameters, pressure balance control, and tunnelling mode. Then segment transport and assembling are discussed, followed by the technologies for opening the chamber and replacing scrapers and construction of connection tunnels. Monitoring for shield tunnelling is also discussed. Finally, construction techniques for shield tunnelling with special conditions are presented with some examples.
